Loldia
House - Lake Naivasha (Kenya)
SETTLER STYLE, THE KENYA OF OLD.....
|
At Loldia youll experience the life of Kenyas early settlers, the
pioneers who cleared the forests and first farmed the rich
highlands. Loldia ranch was established by a family who trekked by
ox-wagon from South Africa a century ago. Today they still own the
land. The original farmhouse is managed for visitors by Governors
Camps.
Its an ideal spot to relax, taste the pleasures of Kenyan country
life and explore the Great Rift Valley. Loldia House, built in the
Second World War, nestles under ancient Acacia trees. Lush lawns run
down to the
shores of Lake Naivasha,
the Great Rift Valleys highest and purest lake. Indigenous plants
and flowers fill the gardens. There are beautiful views of the
dormant volcano, Mount Longonot.
Wild animals roam free on the farm. Small antelope wander through
the gardens. In the evenings hippo munch quietly by the waterside.
Weve kept the original character of the house: comfy
chairs surround a huge fireplace; paintings by an artist who lives on
the farm hang on the walls; a deep and shady verandah to relax on and
sunbeds in the garden. |
 |
Loldia House is situated on the lush green shores of
Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. With just nine rooms, it is
one of Kenyas oldest colonial farms.
Nestling under acacia and wild fig trees on the
western shores of Lake Naivasha is Loldia House. Each morning you
are woken by the calls of the lakes resident fish eagles and
breakfast is served on the lawn where hippos have grazed throughout
the night.
Guests can explore the farms 8,000 acres by foot
or on horseback amongst herds of wild antelope and zebra. Warm sunny
days are complemented by cozy evenings by the roaring log fire. |
