Camp Okavango - (Okavango Delta-Botswana)

Location:

Camp Okavango is situated on the remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience.

Access is by charter aircraft from Maun and Kasane (served by daily road transfers from Victoria Falls) to the private registered airstrip at Camp Okavango.

Camp Okavango may also be reached by vehicle or unique boat transfer from Camp Moremi.

Accommodations:

Camp Okavango accommodates only 22 guests in intimate exclusivity in walk-in East African style safari tents with private hot showers and waterborne toilets.

Each tent is exquisitely furnished with a Rhodesian Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional directors chairs, colorful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway.

Facilities:

Honeymooners are catered for, and for those who demand the ultimate in exclusivity, Camp Okavango boasts the "Okavango Suite" where your stay includes private game viewing facilities.

Unashamed luxury blends with the Africa of yore in the elegant thatch and lethaka main building which houses a cocktail bar, lounge and reference library. Adjacent to the main building is the dining room leading out onto a lovely shaded patio and outside fireplace.

Camp Okavango's silver service dinner served by candelabra is renowned among knowledgeable Africa travelers.

Shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful sundeck and plunge pool provide relief during the hot midday hours, whilst an elevated observation platform affords stunning views of the tranquil floodplains.

Game Viewing & Activities:

The Okavango delta is renowned for its great natural beauty and diversity; renowned as a haven for rare species such as the elusive Sitatunga Antelope; renowned as a birdwatchers paradise with "specials" such as Pel's Fishing Owl. Camp Okavango is the ideal Okavango base from which to discover the secrets of this wetland ecosystem.

All game viewing activities are conducted by resident naturalist guides and include exploring the Okavango by canoe and rivercraft on wildlife and bird watching expeditions. Guided nature walks on the islands of the Delta afford an opportunity to track some of the larger species that inhabit this water wilderness. Fishing for the fighting Tiger Fish, Pike and Bream is excellent.
