Location:

Sangare is quite simply one of the most beautiful private farms in Kenya, a 6,500 acre property at an altitude of 6,000 feet in the foothills of the Aberdare Mountains with spectacular views across the valley to Mount Kenya. 

It is in a very picturesque part of the country; the rolling scenery consists of wooded ravines, open meadows, dense thickets and meandering crystal clear trout streams regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout - ideal for the keen fisherman.

The owner, Mike Prettejohn, lives in a lovely old homestead nearby, while the guest accommodation consists of six en-suite tented units and an attractive cedar wood cottage for our bar and dining room.

The camp is overlooking a small lake and encircled by tall yellow fever acacia trees where Elephant and Buffalo are regular visitors.

Our "NIGHT WALKS" are a unique experience only available at Sangare where we search for Bats, Bush babies, Hyrax, Mongooses, Insects, Reptiles and the rarely seen, and beautiful Maned Rat !!

We will see endemic plants such as lobelia, groundsel and senecio, all perfectly adapted for these unique climatic conditions, experiencing both summer and winter temperatures in a single 24-hour period.
