banks of the Zambezi River just upstream of Victoria Falls. Privately owned
and run, Tongabezi combines romance and exclusivity with warm and attentive
service. Each house and cottage has its own valet who takes care of guests
throughout their stay and act as a private concierge. There is no set

taking in the beauty of this wonderful corner of Africa.
Extra activities – charged extra
I would suggest a trip to Livingstone Island –
Livingstone Island swimming –
Livingstone Island was opened in 1992 to provide exclusive and unique
picnics on the edge of the Victoria Falls. It caters for guests staying at
hotels, lodges and other people around the Victoria Falls area both on the
Zambian and the Zimbabwean sides. |
 |
|
Livingstone Island is a 5-8 minute boat ride
from the Royal Livingstone Hotel and is located in the middle of the Zambezi
River, touching the lip of the Victoria Falls, where the water thunders down
the 103m drop. Access to this unique Island is seasonal and depends entirely
on the water level in the Zambezi River. You can have a breakfast or
gorgeous tea experience on the edge of the Falls! Overnight Tongabezi |
 |
Day Three:- Lower Zambezi
This morning after your breakfast, you will be transferred to Livingstone
airport where you will meet up with your light aircraft transfer which will
fly you down to the lower Zambezi. You will be flown onto an airstrip that
is a short game drive transfer away from Sausage Tree Camp.
This lodge is located on the banks of the
Zambezi River at the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia. This
exclusive safari camp, voted number one luxury destination on the BBC
Holiday Programme’s “Ten Best”, specializes in the very best game viewing
with the highest international standards in luxury and service. Overnight
Sausage Tree Camp |
 |
Day Four, Five & Six:- Lower Zambezi
Sausage Tree Camp offers some of the finest game viewing in natural habitats
anywhere in Africa. It's location within the Lower Zambezi National Park on
the banks of the Zambezi River means that game viewing activities take place
both on the water, by boat and canoes, and on the land by four-wheel drive
game viewing vehicles or on foot (bush walks).
The camp is well equipped with game viewing
vehicles, boats and canoes allowing the lodge to easily cater to the
personal and individual needs of all its guests. |

|
Day Seven:- South Luangwa – Nsolo Camp
This morning you will be transferred into the
South Luangwa by light aircraft. At Mfuwe airstrip you will be met by a
representative of Norman Carr Safaris who will transfer you into Nsolo Camp.
Nsolo is one of the more historic camps in Zambia. It was sited by Norman
Carr in 1987 and Shaddy, the Camp Manager and guide, has been studying the
wildlife and conducting walking safaris from this camp for over 10 years.
Accommodation in this luxury safari camp
consists of four individually designed chalets each on raised wooden decks
with high thatched roofs and private verandas. This is one of the South
Luangwa's more remote, luxury walking safari camps and there is only a
limited network of roads in this area. As a result most of the game viewing
activities are centered on walking safaris although short night drives are
offered as well. Overnight at Nsolo Camp |
 |
Day Eight & Nine:- Nsolo Camp
Whilst at this camp you will spend your days walking through some of South
Luangwa’s most pristine game viewing and wildlife areas.
The Luangwa Valley, once known as the “Valley
of the Elephants” is home to an incredible variety of species, there are two
endemics, the Thornicroft Giraffe and the Cookson’s Wildebeest which are
found no-where outside of the Luangwa and this Park is regarded as one of
the best places to see leopard in it’s natural environs. |
 |
Day Ten:- South Luangwa – Kakuli Camp or
Mchenja Camp
This morning after breakfast you will transfer on foot to your next camp in
the South Luangwa Kakuli or Mchenja camp (depending on availability). You
will set out early on your morning safari walk having packed your bags and
left them in your room. Your safari this morning will end at your next camp,
brunch will be on the table and your bags safely in your room.
Kakuli is a seasonal bush camp on the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa
rivers. There are five spacious, traditional safari tents under shady
thatched roofs, each with an open-air bathroom. All of the tents overlook
the river with stunning views up and down this hippo-packed stretch of the
Luangwa. This area of the Park is renowned for offering guests some of the
best game viewing opportunities in Zambia. Safari activities from Kakuli
will usually be a mixture of game drives and walking safaris. Guests are
able to decide each day if they want to venture out on foot or with the
vehicle. |
 |
We also have the option to use Mchenja, - this
is Norman Carr’s most popular and most luxurious lodge. Mchenja meaning
"ebony", occupies a stunning setting beneath a magnificent grove of these
trees on the banks of the Luangwa river. It is just a short morning's walk
upstream from Kakuli Bush Camp and is in an area teaming with wildlife.
Although this camp takes luxury in the bush to a level not previously seen
in Zambia, it is a bush camp designed to combine excellently with their
other more rustic locations. The camp comprises five stylishly designed
tents each under its own thatched roof and with a deck in front overlooking
the Luangwa river. The tents have inside baths with an outside shower room.
This lodge would be our first option to use for the second 3 night stay in
the South Luangwa as it would be a wonderful way to finish off a fabulous
walking safari. Overnight Kakuli or Mchenja camp |
 |
Day Eleven & twelve – Kakuli Camp or Mchenja
Camp
“There are few African experiences more exciting than heading out on a
walking safari early in the morning, having heard lions calling through the
night, finding fresh tracks and following them up.
With voices hushed and hearts beating your
mind is suggesting there is a lion behind every bush. This is a true African
safari experience. This is big game viewing on foot and at its best.” |
 |
Day Thirteen – Lake Malawi
This morning you will be transferred to Mfuwe airport where you will check
in and board your charter flight to Malawi. On arrival in Malawi you will
clear customs and immigration in Lilongwe and then fly on to Likoma Island.
You will be met and transferred the short distance to Kaya Mawa (meaning
“maybe tomorrow”).
Turn your watch forward one hour and back 100 years. Likoma Island, set in
the crystal clear waters of Lake Malawi. This lodge was rated by Conde Nast
Magazine as one of the planet’s ten most romantic destinations. The island
is covered with mango trees and ancient baobabs and is encircled by glorious
sandy beaches and rocky covers. |
 |
Day Fourteen & Fifteen – Kaya Mawa
Unwind from your very exciting and energetic wildlife safari and spend the
next few days relaxing on the beach and taking in the natural “untouched”
beauty of this gorgeous island. Activities include walking, biking around
the island, swimming, snorkeling, diving, water sports and fishing. Other
excursions include visiting the cathedral and market in the village
Day Sixteen - Farewell
Your Zambian and Malawian adventure has ended. This morning you will be
taken to Lilongwe airport where you will board your international flight and
return home. |
