San Camp

Like its sibling camp Jack's Camp, San Camp is a permanent under-canvas camp that is perfectly positioned to explore the dramatic Kalahari surrounds. Located adjacent to the Makgadikgadi National Park with its endless vistas of rolling golden grassland, San Camp offers guests a chance to become one with nature and one of the most remote places in Africa.

This tiny San Camp caters for a mere twelve guests at any one time and guests are houses in luxury tents complete with comfortable details and en suite bathrooms. A refurb will be undertaken in 2011 to offer further luxurious details for guests who relish the opportunity to get away from it all to one of the most romantic, remote places in Africa.

There are a number of specialised itineraries for a stay at San Camp, including activities such as game drives out across the pans with a guide to explain the history of this fascinating phenomenon that was once an ocean.
Visit the local meerkats that make their home here and after a picnic breakfast, visit a remote cattle-post to learn about the traditional culture of the Batswana people.

Days are punctuated with sumptuous meals and fascinating learning experiences - from fossil hunting to observing brown hyenas in their natural habitat. Birdwatching is also a focus of life here. Afternoons can be spent in the tented pavilion drinking in the magnificent surrounds, San Camp is after all, a place where one can see the curvature of the earth.

For one of the most romantic experiences imaginable, where stark surrounds, animal life and a realisation of one's place in the bigger scheme of things, San Camp is a luxurious and unforgettable bet.
