If you are lucky enough to be travelling in Whale season (August - November) taking the very scenic and slightly longer Coastal Meander to Grootbos is a must. Grootbos is situated 13km outside the hamlet of Stanford with stunning views across the Atlantic Ocean.

Set off after breakfast and break from the traditional highway to take the less travelled Route 62. You pass through inland quaint villages like Barrydale and also have the opportunity to take on an ostrich ride in Outdshoorn before you turn towards the coast and head to George and Knysna.
You will find Phantom Forest tucked away in the forest at the foothills of the spectacular Phantom Pass, just 7km from Knysna.
