Day 1 - 4: Uganda Queen Elizabeth National Park, Mweya Safari Lodge
Arrive at Entebbe Airport where you will be met by your Volcanoes Safari Guide. Enjoy a relaxed briefing on the trip ahead and get acclimatized with the country. Set off on the southbound road around mid morning towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Located in Western Uganda this is the most visited National Park. Home to some fantastic big game like lion, elephant, hippo and leopards and over 500 bird species, you get to enjoy these spectacular sightings without the mass of tourists that some other East African parks are known for. The Park is also well known for its volcanic features and the Kazinga Channel which connects Lake Edward to Lake George and is great for boating safaris!
You arrive late afternoon for a 3 night stay at Mweya Safari Lodge. This is a luxury safari lodge overlooking the Kazinga Channel in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge has 50 rooms with stunning views, a swimming pool and entertainment area, or your own private balconies to relax away the afternoon. At the lodge you can enjoy morning and evening game drives, Chimpanzee excursions or a trip on a boat in the Kazinga Channel.

Day 4 - 7: Uganda, Bwindi Forest, Bwindi Lodge
Today you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The roads in Uganda are not good so transfers do take up most of the day. You will stop en route for some sightseeing and if time and roads allow, this could be the tree climbing lions in Ishasha.
Arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. This 3 night stay at Bwindi Safari Lodge will be your base for your Gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge overlooks this primeval forest and you can spend all day on your terrace just listening to the magic of the forest unfolding around you. There are 8 bandas in this enchanted eco-lodge, making a private and exclusive experience.
The forest is home to Gorillas, monkeys, chimpanzees and hundreds of birds. Of course your main activity here is the Gorilla trekking. Permits and your briefing are all organized before you set off. Daily permits issued are limited therefore creating an exclusive and intimate experience. Once you have found the Gorillas in the forest, you have an hour to spend observing these magnificent creatures.
Depending on the availability of permits will denote the day you go Gorilla trekking during your stay. Should you wish to make 2 trips to see the Gorillas a supplement will need to be paid.

Day 7 - 9: Uganda, Mgahinga, Mount Gahinga Lodge
Leave this amazingly diverse forest behind and make your way to Mgahinga National Park. The park is located in the Virunga Mountains and borders the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and the Virunga National Park in the DRC. The habituated group of Gorillas is no longer trackable from this location but the beautiful landscapes make the visit worthwhile.
The Mount Gahinga Safari Lodge nestles at the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes and has recently been revamped. Beautiful views of the Volcanoes make this a haven for absorbing your surroundings. The lodge has 8 bandas, providing an intimate and exclusive experience.
Here you can enjoy climbing volcanoes, birding, tracking the Golden Monkey, guided nature walks or visits to the local community. You have a 2 night stay to pack it all in.

Day 9 - 12: Rwanda, Parc National des Volcans, Virunga Lodge
You can relax around the lodge in the morning and your transfer across to Rwanda will be after lunch. The clocks go back one hour once you make the border crossing. Your destination in Rwanda is the Parc National des Volcans. A spectacular destination comprising of 5 of the 8 volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains, of course the Mountain Gorillas, and the park was also the base for famous zoologist Dian Fossey.
Virunga Safari Lodge, where you are based for 3 nights, has a spectacular location overlooking the Virunga Volcanoes and shimmering lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera. Set on a hillside the panoramic views from all areas of the lodge are unbeatable. 8 eco-friendly bandas make for a personal, intimate stay, beautifully terraced gardens allow for those peaceful and tranquil moments we don't get to have in our busy lives.
Gorilla trekking is the main activity in this area and as in Uganda, daily permits are limited. The Gorillas move around within the parks borders so the walk to find them can be anything from one hour to 6 or 7 hours. Seeing the Gorillas is an awesome experience! The excitement of searching for them through the dense jungle adds to the allure these creatures hold. Once you have located the family, you have a privileged hour to spend with them.
Should you wish to engage in more than one visit with the Gorillas, then a supplement will need to be paid. Other activities in the area include visiting Dian Fossey's grave, climbing volcanoes, tracking Golden Monkeys, hiking to waterfalls and lots of local community projects.
