On arrival at
Kigali Airport your
Volcanoes Safari Guide will meet you. Enjoy a relaxed briefing on your trip ahead before setting off to Park National des Volcans. Approximately 3 hours drive from Kigali through terraced hillsides you gradually start climbing the base of the awesome Virunga Volcanoes.
Arrive at
Virunga Lodge where you are greeted with panoramic views. The lodge is set on a hillside and views are enjoyed over the Virunga Volcanoes and Ruhondo and Bulera Lakes. With only 8 bandas you are ensured of an intimate experience.
Your 3 night stay allows for 2 opportunities to encounter the endangered Mountain Gorilla. Should a second trip be made a supplement will be charged. Permits are limited daily to ensure correct procedure is followed at all times. The day's excursion can last anything from 1 hour to 7 or 8 hours, depending on where the Gorillas are found. You have one hour to spend with these magic creatures once they are sighted.
After lunch today make your way across the border to Uganda. Spend the following 2 nights at Mount Gahinga Safari Lodge. The lodge nestles on the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes and is a peaceful retreat for the next couple of days. Enjoy spacious rooms, eco-friendly facilities where possible, thoughtful staff and charm and character.
Activities here include climbing one of the nearby Volcanoes, tracking the Golden Monkeys, guided nature walks or local community visits. Or you can relax on your veranda with the amazing views and local sights and sounds to keep you company.
Today involves a leisurely transfer through the Ugandan countryside to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The forest is one of the richest eco-systems in Africa, and the diversity of species a main attraction. It is also a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and of course, the main attraction - the Mountain Gorilla.
Should you wish to have another opportunity to encounter these amazing animals then a supplement will need to be paid. You can enjoy another visit seeking out one of the most endangered species in the world trekking through dense forest to find them. You can also fill your time with activities from the lodge, or relax and take in the spectacular forest views.

Transfer across the border to Rwanda (clocks go back an hour) and should time permit you can enjoy a city tour of Kigali which includes the genocide memorial.
Your transfer will take you to the Airport in time to meet your international flight out of Kigali.
