On arrival at Entebbe Airport you will be met by a Wild Frontiers representative and transferred to your hotel.
The Lake Victoria Hotel is only 4km away from the Airport and enjoys panoramic views over the Lake. This 4 star hotel is a great start to your holiday and you can unwind here after the long journey. The colonial style hotel is set in beautiful tropical gardens, the swimming pool is a welcome relief and the terrace, bar and dining area all look over the gardens to the lake beyond.
If you are feeling energetic this afternoon you can take a walk to Entebbe town and explore on foot. Or you can take a boat across the lake to Ngamba Island - home of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Enjoy close-up encounters with the rehabilitated Chimpanzees that live here. Get to know their history, witness a feeding session or just enjoy the tranquility of the diverse natural wildlife that occurs on this little Island Sanctuary.
Today you have a fairly long drive on mountain roads to Western Uganda and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will stop for lunch en-route.
Buhoma Lodge is one of only 2 lodges located within the National Park. It has amazing views onto the canopy of forest, made even more impressive by huge glass windows. The lodge is designed to blend in with the natural surroundings and local materials have been sourced wherever possible. With eight chalets you enjoy an intimate experience and really get to take in your surroundings as the Impenetrable Forest seeps into your conscious.
You have a 3 night stay at the lodge with the option of 2 days of Gorilla trekking. Should a second permit be required a supplement will be charged. You are escorted to the Park Headquarters after breakfast in the morning to meet your guides. The search for these amazing animals is lead by experienced guides and finding the family of Gorillas can take anything from 1 - 6 hours, sometimes longer. However, the hiking is worth it as you have a once in a life time, exclusive experience!
After the highlight of Gorilla trekking you need some time to process your incredible encounter. Enjoy a scenic drive as you head through the area known as the "Switzerland of Africa" the Ugandan Highlands, on the road towards Kampala. Not quite ready to head home you have an overnight stop at Lake Mburo National Park.
Mantana Lake Mburo Tented Camp is a classic safari style luxury camp. Set on the hilltop overlooking the Lake, the camp makes use of its unique position within the Park. The tents are en-suite and set on wooden platforms with veranda's, again making full use of its commanding position.
Enjoy an overnight stay in this ecologically diverse National Park. It is home to some great plains game and the leopard and buffalo. For bird lovers there is an excellent variety of water and acacia savanna bird species.
You will arrive back in Entebbe late afternoon. You have the option of an overnight stay at Lake Victoria, where you stayed on the way in. Or if you are looking for something a little different then you can make use of the tented accommodation on Ngamba Island.
The East African Safari style tented camp offers four en-suite accommodations overlooking the lake. Friendly staff is on hand to look after you and all meals are served at the Camp. You can enjoy these in the dining area or on the shores of the lake. If you are not quite ready to leave Uganda, this is a lovely final night option.
Enjoy some last minute shopping or local sight-seeing. A transfer will be organized to the Airport in time for your outbound flight.
