  • Rekero

The spacious tents at Rekero bring a new meaning to the word camping. Each has a terrace overlooking the Talek river and an ensuite bathroom with a safari style bucket shower and flush toilets. The tent sides can be left open at night to enjoy cool night air and the sounds of animals passing by to drink at the river. Lighting is solar powered with kerosene lanterns giving a soft glow outside.

Rekero is run on eco-friendly principles and pitched seasonally from June to March, leaving the land to regenerate in between seasons. It is also unfenced, so guests really feel the heartbeat of the bush, though always kept safe by the experienced rangers and guards.

Interested guests can visit the home village of one of the Masai guides and learn more about the culture of this fascinating place.
One great aspect of Rekero is its personal touch. The whole camp crew grew up within a twenty mile radius of the camps site and is steeped in local knowledge of wildlife and people. The Beaton family have been involved in conservation in Kenya through several generations, and two generations now run the camp, with the support of qualified Masai guides who have worked with the family for years.

Game drives cover a varied terrain seeking out the Big 5, though the rhino can be elusive, and witnessing the majesty of the annual migration between July and October. Bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sundowners refresh guests during both the full day and shorter drives. Excellent meals are served at a long table, where all the guests eat together sharing the days experiences.

Rekero Camp is all about experiencing the authentic Masai Mara, through adventurous game drives, knowledgeable guides and generous hosts for a truly memorable safari in Africa.
