  • Namutoni

Formerly known as Namutoni Restcamp, Namibia Wildlife Resort's eastern camp in Etosha is located near the Von Lindequist gate and close to the popular Fishers Pan where vast amounts of water birds and breeding colonies of flamingos are often seen.

The fort, a national monument, was almost completely destroyed by Ovambo warriors in the battle of Namutoni in 1904, but was repaired soon after that and has also been beautifully restored since.

Two restaurants cater for a variety of tastes and while the African Fusion Restaurant serves an array of traditional African dishes, the menu of the Steak House features European touches on its extensive menu.

Other amenities include a bar, lounge area, a shop selling basic food items, a bookshop, a museum and an outdoor swimming pool, while the crafts boutique has a wonderful selection of traditional handcrafted Namibian goods.
Offering various recently refurbished rooms and 25 picturesque camping sites, Namutoni caters for every kind of traveller. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and fridges, and guests can choose between 20 bush chalets and 24 double rooms. The former are elegant and spacious, and include everything from private relaxation areas to outdoor showers, while the double rooms are interconnected through elevated wooden walkways. These comfortable units boast private outside areas in front of the rooms as well as in the back.

The camping facilities have everything you need, including spacious ablution blocks with showers and toilets, well-equipped field kitchens, barbeque facilities and power points.

Apart from self-drive game-viewing excursions around Etosha, the park also offers guided game drives three times a day.  The main reason for staying at Namutoni is to experience the incredible wildlife offering of Etosha - by day and by night - and the camp boasts elevated decked walkways and viewing benches near the floodlit waterhole to provide opportunities to encounter nocturnal game.
