Day by Day Overview
Day 1 - 3: Eastern Etosha, Onguma Tree Top Lodge
Arrive in Windhoek and make your way to the car hire counter. Pick up your 4 x 4 vehicle and begin your journey north to Etosha National Park. Today you have between 4 and 5 hours of driving.
You will enter Onguma Private Reserve which is located East of Etosha National Park. This is a 36,000 hectare private concession and boasts more than 30 animal species and well over 300 species of birds. Check in to Onguma Tree Tops Lodge, a small intimate lodge giving you a real taste of the bush in all its raw splendor. The camp has only 4 thatched rooms with canvas walls and is built on wooden stilts amongst the tree tops. The views over the waterhole are beautiful.
Enjoy your own game drives into Etosha National Park or you can join one of the guides from Onguma for a day trip into the Park. Due to Etosha being a government run National Park you have to abide by the opening and closing times, but should you wish to experience the bush at night time, you can take an evening game drive from Onguma within their private concession.

Today you can take a day trip to Etosha and explore some of the waterholes on your way through. Take a picnic lunch and find yourself a shady tree and watch nature run its course in front of you.
You will exit Etosha National Park at its western entrance and make your way to Ongava Private Reserve, only 4.5km from the main Etosha Gates. Check into Ongava Lodge for you 2 nights. The lodge is situated on a hill overlooking a well frequented water hole and the plains beyond. Ongava suites are spacious, made from rock, glass and thatch and offer impressive views over the plains.
Activities at the lodge can either be organized through the lodge or you are welcome to take yourself into Etosha for some more game viewing. An exclusive activity to Ongava Lodge is tracking the resident white and black rhino, which if you are feeling brave enough, can be done on foot!
