Day by Day Overview
Day 1 - 3: Selous Game Reserve, Selous Safari Camp
Your flight will be directly into Dar es Salaam. From Dar you will be flying to Southern Tanzania and the less well known but wild - Selous Game Reserve. The Selous is one of the last remaining pristine wilderness areas in the world. Off the traditional Tanzanian Safari circuit, no permanent human habitation and no permanent structures are permitted here. The Great Rufiji River, the largest River in East Africa, runs through the Selous and has formed several large lakes en-route to the Indian Ocean.
Selous Safari Camp is set on the shores of one of these lakes -Lake Nzerakera. The Camp blends in beautifully with its natural surroundings. Due to the water location there is a high concentration of African wildlife and birdlife visible from the Camp itself. Tents are widely spaced along the lake shore ensuring maximum privacy and amazing views. With 2 verandas to make use of those views guests find they often don't want to do anything else!
Enjoy the romance of luxury tented accommodation with en-suite bathrooms and open air showers, making nature that much closer.
Being a water location gives guests the option of water activities, as well as game drives (open vehicles) and walking. Due to the scarce water sources in the Selous animal activities tend to happen later in the day as the game makes its way to the water sources in the area. Enjoy some amazing sightings of elephants as the Selous has the largest elephant population in Tanzania. Lion, leopard and buffalo as well as vast numbers of crocodiles and hippos and one of the few remaining wild dog populations in the world are also all found in the wild Selous.

Day 7 - 11: Serengeti National Park, &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas
The wildlife encounters continue as you transfer today from Ngorongoro Crater area into the Serengeti National Park. Your transfer into the park is by small aircraft. Enjoy the magnificent views over the endless plains from the air as you take in your surroundings for the next 4 nights.
andBeyond's Serengeti Under Canvas Camps have 3 sites within the Serengeti and move around the park according to the projected movements of the Great Migration. The camps aim to get you within a comfortable driving distance of the massive herds. This does depend on the annual rains. Guides will always try to get you as close as possible, but should the herds not appear when expected, there is plenty of resident game and very knowledgeable guides to keep you highly enthralled with your surroundings.
The romance of a luxury tented camp is something that really needs to be experienced to understand the full impact. Intimate and exclusive with just 6 spacious Safari tents, private campsites, double beds, en-suite bathrooms with alfresco bucket showers, Indian rugs and crisp linens provide that indulgent classic Safari experience.
Game is resident through-out the year and often amazing sightings happen right at camp. However, game drives are on hand for you to really get to explore the vast Serengeti plains. Enjoy dining under the huge African sky, lit up by lanterns and the Milky Way, bush breakfasts and picnic lunches.
