Gibbs Farm

Surrounded by the flourishing highlands of Africa's Great Rift Valley, Gibbs Farm accommodation is perfectly situated halfway between Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara just 5km from Karatu Village. The gorgeous colonial estate accommodation is the ideal tranquil setting from which to enjoy Tanzania's natural beauty, ultimate wildlife experiences as well as to engage with the local community.

Set amongst formal English Gardens, the Gibbs Farm accommodation and charming 20 farm cottages are the heart of the farm and boast incredible sweeping views of the forested Ngorongoro Highland slopes, orchards and fields. The secluded Gibbs Farm cottages ensure visitors privacy, each with their own en suite bathroom, garden shower and magical fire place. There are also 16 comfortable standard cottages with fewer trimmings.
Built in 1929, the traditional Farmhouse has been well-maintained and still exudes the characteristic colonial manor feel through inviting living and reading rooms warmed by roaring fires as well as an elegant dining room, bar and gift shop.
The open verandah provides the perfect viewpoint from which to admire an incredible Tanzanian night sky or enjoy a tantalizingly fresh home cooked meal or cup of coffee with farm produce sourced from the 10 acres of vegetable fields, fruit orchards and coffee plantations.

Gibbs Farm hugs the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is the ideal accommodation base for visitors to enjoy the many activities of the Ngorongoro Forests and hills. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to the Big Five which can be often spotted in a single game drive. Lake Manyara is also rich in game and renowned for its fluttering flocks of flamingos. Gibbs Farm guests can also enjoy guided walks to the beautiful nearby waterfall and Elephant Caves, mountain biking, visits to the local Iraqw tribe or some fantastic bird watching.

The delightfully warm service and homely feel that flows through Gibbs Farm is also a signal of their commitment to community development in Tanzania. Gibbs Farm has become an asset to the local people and has a number of development projects with which visitors can get involved in.
