Kulala Wilderness Camp

At Kulala Wilderness Camp visitors stay in comfortable "kulalas" - which means "to sleep" in the local Oshiwambo language. Made from thatch and canvas, they remain cool in the heat of the desert day. Verandas are built on raised platforms to make the most of the stunning views. Each kulala also has its own private rooftop for visitors who want to sleep outside under a blanket of stars. One of the kulalas can accommodate four guests and is ideal for families.

Kulala Wilderness Camp's main area is raised so as to make the most of the gorgeous views of the surrounding valley and mountains, and it boasts a lounge and bar. Visitors eat on the outside deck while local wildlife wander by. A dip in the swimming pool is the ideal end to a hot day in the desert.

Activities are myriad at Kulala Wilderness Camp, with a trip to Sossusvlei's spectacular red dunes a must.
With some dunes nearly as high as 300 metres, this is an astonishing sight and is situated in the Namib-Naukluft Park. There are also nature walks and drives with experienced and professional guides who point out the fascinating diversity of life in the harsh desert environment. Lucky visitors will see springbok, gemsbok, foxes and many other small animals that call the desert home.

For romantics at heart, a trip in a hot air balloon is an unforgettable experience, which starts at daybreak. Soaring effortlessly above the desert and dunes is a magical adventure, and to end, visitors enjoy a well-deserved champagne breakfast at the landing site.

Kulala Wilderness Camp provides visitors with once-in-a-lifetime experiences in stylish comfort in the heart of the rugged and harsh Namib desert.
