Lufupa River Camp

Lufupa River Camp has seven spacious Meru-style tents, which are all en-suite, and two of the suites are geared towards families and provide additional beds. The exceptionally high ceilings keep the tents cool while the gauze windows (to keep mosquitos away and to let in a cool breeze) have mesmerising 180-degrees views of the river.

One of the best features of the tented suites are their partially shaded wooden decks, where sitting quietly and drinking in the scenery very well may include seeing some of the most prized feathered friends of Kafue. The camp also caters for self-drive campers who travel with their own tents, as well as for guided groups, thanks to an additional campsite over and above the tented camp. Activities, drinks and lunches and dinners are not included Lufupa River Camp's rates.

During the heat of the day, Lufupa's refreshing pool is just the ticket and at the heart of the camp, the vibrant River Café offers a la carte meals and a variety of refreshing drinks.
When it comes to activities, guests can choose from day and night drives, boat trips (which are almost guaranteed to deliver sightings op hippo) as well as informative guided walking excursions and some fishing outings.

As the sister camp of the nearby Lufupa Tented Camp, the River Camp is also run by Wilderness Safaris, but unlike the tented camp, it's on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Mainly designed with local travellers in mind, it allows for guests who are on self-drive trips and who are happy with the flexibilities of a camp that is not run on an all-inclusive basis.

Elusive cats are the main drawcards around here, and the notoriously dense population of leopard in this part of Kafue means most guests go on at least one night drive to see these amazing animals in action.
