Lufupa Tented Camp

Lufupa Tented Camp. Consisting of 9 Meru-style en-suite tents, each unit boasts its own veranda with exceptional river views - which are particularly popular with bird-watchers. To keep them cool and add to their spaciousness, each of the tents has high ceilings and three sides of the tents have tall, netted windows with crisp, white ceiling-to-floor curtains, which can be opened during the daytime for unfettered views.

Simple, yet tastefully decorated, the interiors include a bathroom divided from the sleeping areas by woven screens, and the large showers open-plans are like manna from heaven after a day in the bush.

Originally part of what was previously known as Lufupa Lodge, the camp was refurbished and reopened in 2007 as part of Wilderness Safaris - bringing with it the exceptional attention to detail and emphasis on authentic and luxurious experiences in Africa.
At the hub of the camp, the central areas include a plunge pool, boma, fireplace and a dining area, as well as an open-sided canvas lounge overlooking the broad Kafue River. Activities revolve around game drives, and the night drives are of particular interest due to regular leopard sightings in the rocky outcrops nearby.

The experienced guides are famously skilled at locating leopards, and the opportunity to see a leopard stalk its prey by night has been a highlight on the safaris of many visitors to this camp.

Kafue is also home to some truly rare species of sable antelope and Lichtensteins hartebeest, while the birdlife is world-famous - more than 400 species call it home, and birders can look forward of sightings of Pels Fishing Owl and the African Finfoot.
