On arrival at either Lusaka or Livingstone you are met by a Wilderness Air representative and transferred by light aircraft (approx 1 hour flying time) to an airstrip in the Kafue National Park. From the strip it is a scenic 2 hour game drive to the Lufupa Bush Camp on the banks of the Kafue River.
The camp is simple but ideally situated slightly downstream from the confluence of the Lufapu and Kafue Rivers. You will not encounter other visitors in this remote and private area. The range of habitats is home to interesting wildlife including wild dogs, Lichtensteins hartebeest, oribi and sable. There is a resident pride of lion and leopard are regularly sighted.
This mornings game drive is a transfer to Musanza Tented Camp which is in the wildlife rich Busanga Plains. This is traditional camping with in style. Musanza Tented Camp is small with only 6 tents set under a canopy of majestic trees with views of the Lufupa River.
Game drives and walks traverse the riverine woodland as well as the beautiful grasslands of the Busunga Plains. This region is home to red lechwe and puku as well as big predators like lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. Pods of hippos and crocodiles inhabit the river.
After breakfast we depart on a game driver / transfer to Busunga Bush Camp which is tucked away in the vast 290 sq miles of the Busunga Plains. In this unique ecosystem you will see big antelope herds of red lechwe, puku, roan, oribi and Lichtensteins hartebeest which in turn attract many predators. Birders will be interested in the numerous endemic species as well as big flocks of storks, pelicans and wattled and crown cranes.
Busunga Bush Camp has only 4 reed and canvas rooms and wildlife can be seen roaming the plains in front of the camp. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and will take you on game drives and night drives. This is one of the best lion viewing regions of Africa.
After an early breakfast, depart by helicopter from Busanga Bush Camp to Busanga airstrip, from there light aircraft transfer to Lusaka Airport, where the safari ends.
