Arathusa is shaded by a forest of characterful Knobthorn trees. Arathusa is traditional in style and is open-plan with both thatched standard rooms and four more remote and newly decorated über-luxurious suites with their own plunge pools and lounge areas. Also recently added is the luxury spa overlooking the waterhole. Two full-time therapists offer a comprehensive spa and wellness experience. Arathusa is the perfect way to restore and revitalize in the bush. Guests at Arathusa need not leave the camp to see impressive herds of buffalo, antelope and rowdy elephant families as they gather regularly at the waterhole which is overlooked by the rim-flow swimming pool.
But a trip out into the bush is always rewarded by quick sightings at Arathusa, with the Big 5 virtually guaranteed and a host of other smaller creatures and birds to enjoy with the extensive knowledge of game rangers and trackers at hand to give you an unforgettable bush experience. Dinner at Arathusa is often held in traditional African style, in an open-air boma with bright stars filling the night skies and with the wild sounds of the bushveld keeping conversation lively especially as nomadic lion prides roam the area!
Arathusa has its own airstrip so that exclusive private charters can be arranged but the lodge is easily accessible from both local airports, making it one of the most conveniently located and affordable African safari options for both local and overseas guests, whether they wish to travel by road or air. Children over 12 are welcome at Arathusa unless the entire camp is booked exclusively.
Cape Town, Sabi Sands & Vic Falls
Camille put a classic 'first time to Africa' trip together for this Australian family. Cape Town for a few days (although they could have spent longer!), a luxury Big Five safari in the Sabi Sands and time to do all the fun activities at the Victoria Falls.
“We saw a parade of animals from our front porch!”
Ilze chose Arathusa Safari Lodge in the Sabi Sands for these two friends from the US travelling together on a first ever trip to South Africa. They loved every minute and are promising to come back again for more. Look how much they saw on their 4 day stay!
