Cottar’s 1920’s Safari Camp is the oldest safari company in East Africa and Calvin Cottar is a third generation safari guide, conservationist and a great host. With the dedicated guides, spotters and wonderful staff, he makes guests feel like they are part of the family too. Children are welcomed and there are family tents available with separate rooms under the same canvas roof. Each tent has a Masai guard at night to keep guests safe from wildlife venturing too close.
Authentic white canvas tents, luxuriously furnished with 1920s antiques, accommodates our guests at Cottar’s and are spacious enough to include a private dressing room, as well as ensuite bathroom next to the main bedroom.
It is like stepping back in time, with four poster beds draped in mosquito netting, brass gramophones and folding wooden chairs. There is even a fireplace, so chilly nights can be warmed by a roaring log fire.
Guests have their own personal game ranger and private butler, so can organise their time as they wish: full day out on safari, with bush picnic lunch and sundowners, or a more relaxed day with time to relax by the pool, have a massage from the full time therapist, or browse the well stocked library tent.
Bush walks and night drives are also recommended here, as this private concession allows guests the freedom of enjoying the wild at their own pace. The majesty and awe-inspiring spectacle of the annual wildebeest and zebra migration can be witnessed from the perfect vantage point.
Experienced guides reveal the Masai Mara animals in all their wonder, from Big 5 to the smallest creature. The vintage Rolls is also at guests service for romantic sunset bush drives and atmospheric sundowner cocktails.
For authenticity, romance and luxury on a safari in Africa, Cottar’s Camp has guests returning again and again.
