Jamala Madikwe Royal Safari Lodge is the new jewel in the crown in the south eastern corner of the Madikwe Game Reserve. Malaria-free and accessible from Johannesburg, the Madikwe is gaining in reputation as an excellent safari destination and besides regular Big Five sightings, it is renowned for the elusive Wild Dog.Safari Guru, Lise Kargaard rates Jamala as one of her top 3 lodges of all time! Romance in abundance, fun conversation and unreal game viewing are things that stand out.Accommodating just 10 guests in 5 luxurious suites, each large suite (or villa) has a private plunge pool overlooking the waterhole.
You never need to leave your personal palace. In fact you could stay in all day, splash in the pool, sit on the desk or lie on the sofa and watch the animals. Jamala Madikwe is cleverly situated overlooking a this very active waterhole. Guests claim that the animal action never stops …day and night there are animals roaring, screeching and splashing…
Jamala means ‘natural elegance’ in Swahili. The main lodge is situated under a canopy of ancient Leadwood trees with views of the grassy plains and a waterhole.
The lodge is owner-managed and so guests are treated to highly personalised service by the owner and his charming staff. It is the little touches and Rodney’s passion for the Madkiwe, it’s wildlife and the guest experience is palpable. Up there with the best hosts in the industry, Rodney and Nico are always on hand to make sure you get the royal treatment. White and dark chocolate gateau slabs with champagne before game drive….need we say more?
Jamala Madikwe is conveniently accessible from Johannesburg by scheduled air charter right into the reserve or by road (approx. 3 hours)
Jamala Madikwe does it again! Camille has never ever had a client who hasn't absolutely raved about this lodge. Rodney and his amazing team are dream hosts. The wildlife gathers daily at the waterhole in front of the lodge. The Madiwke is known for it's wild dogs. An experience worthy of 100 exclamation marks!! :)
Jamala Madikwe Royal Safari Lodge is one of Lise's favourite properties. And so it is lovely to get affirmation of this from a valued past client of ours.
This family had a WOW time at three completely different but equally fabulous safari lodges in South Africa. First stop was Londolozi Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands where close up encounters with the Big Five are practically guaranteed! Then they flew across to the Madkiwe Game Reserve and love the ‘couch safari’ at Jamala! Finally at Camp Jabulani they loved everything especially the cheetah and elephant interactions.
