At Little Kulala eleven air-conditioned, thatched ‘kulalas’ (meaning in ‘to sleep’ in the native language) provide accommodation filled with opulent comfort. Chic clean lines, white linen and white decks provide a contemporary organic feel while massive picture windows blend seamlessly with the landscape.
Each unit boasts its own plunge pool with views over the plains and mountains. For romantic stargazing, each kulala also has its own private rooftop skybed while indoor and outdoor showers complete the picture of luxury. Vast beds and couches are designed for comfort and are positioned to make the most of the stunning views.
Days are filled with a variety of activities, from nature drives, walks on the reserves and game drives, to unforgettable trips to the Sossusvlei sand dunes – guests can even enjoy a picnic in the dunes. For romantics, a hot air balloon safari is a must.
Back at the lodge, the main area provides ample opportunity and suitable spaces for relaxing in. After a hot day’s activities, guests can cool down in the shimmering swimming pool or enjoy a sundowner at the bar or on the veranda. The latter has excellent views of a nearby waterhole where desert wildlife such as ostrich, gemsbok and springbok as well as smaller fauna come to slake their thirst as the sun goes down.
Dinner is served outside under a canopy of stars while inside areas offer a wine cellar, library and craft boutique for visitors to explore and enjoy. The decor champions the use of natural colours, linen and cotton materials, rich textures and organic styling, which integrates the space seamlessly with the natural surrounds.
The luxurious and contemporary nature of Little Kulala makes it the perfect hideaway for discerning travellers keen to explore the magic of the stunning Namib desert.
