Victoria Falls is home of the largest waterfall in the world. Livingstone has carved a niche for itself as the adrenaline capital of Southern Africa. Making use of the chaos that developed in neighboring Zimbabwe, Livingstone is a buzzing town with some awesome accommodation options, prime Zambezi River locations, and activities not for the faint hearted at the Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls is a destination not to be missed with any African Vacation. A standalone destination if you only have a few days in Southern Africa, it also combines well with a South African Safari or various Botswana safari options. Often a day trip to Chobe completes your magic Victoria Falls Itinerary.

Nothing prepares you for the awe of Victoria Falls! A mile wide & 360 feet deep making it the largest curtain of water in the world. You can see the “smoke” rising off this curtain and hear the thunder as it plunges deep into the Zambezi Gorge from the Victoria Falls.

“The Smoke that Thunders” inspires today as it did when it was discovered by David Livingstone in 1855. With a choice of accommodation lining the Zambezi River there are family friendly options, safari lodges, hotels (including the Royal Livingstone & Zambezi Sun), romantic retreats, island retreats, accommodation close to the Falls or set slightly away for a more undisturbed Victoria Falls experience.

Activities at the Victoria Falls are endless in this adrenaline capital. To fully appreciate the might and scale of the Falls a helicopter or micro light flight is essential. White water rafting is a must at Victoria Falls if you are a water addict and want to experience the mighty Zambezi River. This activity operates during the low water months so it is a good idea to check with your consultant. Water levels do affect the scale of your view of the Victoria Falls. The best time to travel to the Victoria Falls is highlighted on our information and tips pages.

About "Livingstone"

Victoria Falls & Botswana circuit

Camille put together a lovely safari circuit for this couple from Australia. They went to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls, then up to the Chobe River, then across into the heart of the Okavango Delta before ending up in the drier Makgadgadi pans region of Botswana.

Cape Town, Kruger & Livingstone

This first-time-to-Southern-Africa couple loved the itinerary that Liesl put together for them. A Cape Town, Kruger & Vic Falls combo really does highlight some of the best we have to offer in a seamless, time efficient way. They travelled in November and even though they were forewarned, were disappointed by the low water season at Victoria Falls. Nevertheless, they enjoyed the wide variety of adventure activities.

3 week family vacation on safari in Southern Africa and never a dull moment!

This family were particularly impressed with the logistics of their long and complex African safari. They started with an urban safari in Cape Town and then went into the heart of the Okavango Delta followed by the Savuti region in Botswana. They caught their breath at the Victoria Falls before journeying into remote Zambia for an unforgettable safari in the South Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi.

Family Adventure : Cape Town, Rovos Rail, Sabi Sands, Vic Falls and Botswana

This US family with young adult kids had a ball on their trip which started in Cape Town with the amazing Charlie as their guide. Then they took Rovos Rail (possibly a bit too stuffy for the kids?) north to their safari at Nottens (one of our favourite camps in the Sabi Sands.) They then flew to Victoria Falls in Zambia and then onto another safari in Botswana’s Chobe National Park and Okavango Delta.

Kruger and Victoria Falls safari combo

Two 'bucket list' destinations were just perfect for Greg and Carol - The Sabi Sands for close up encounters with the Big Five and family style hospitality and the Victoria Falls for a wide variety of adventure activities.

Detailed review of Cape Town, Winelands, Thornybush & Vic Falls

This US couple sent very detailed feedback about their trip which included a few days in Cape Town and the Winelands with the services of one of our best private guides. They even reviewed the restaurants they dined at. Then they went on safari in the Thornybush Game Reserve near Kruger before spending their last few days on the banks of the Zambezi River just upstream of the Victoria Falls.

Family safari to Zambia

Two families, two diverse African countries - lots of fun with a wide variety of expereinces! They started in buzzy, cosmopolitan Cape Town then journeyed into the remote wilderness of Zambia's Lower Zambezi before ending their trip at Victoria Falls.
