The Okavango Delta is incredible, a water wonderland and the camps offer a combination of game drives, walking, boating and mokoro trips, which are the traditional dug-out canoes you may have heard about. A mokoro trip is the quintessential Delta experience – you’ll have a guide or “poler” to steer you along the waterways as you sit back and enjoy the scenery.

The jewel of Botswana is the Okavango Delta, a fresh water wetland in the remote northern reaches. It is one of the most sought after wilderness destinations in the world! The fact that the Okavango Delta exists at all is one of those miracles of nature. The annual floodwaters find their way from the Angolan highlands 1,000kms away, into the Okavango River, and once through the Caprivi the water spills over the vast, fan shaped Okavango Delta. Journey into this wilderness for serenity, tranquillity and heart stopping game viewing!

The Delta and Moremi Reserve (a protected area within the Okavango Delta) are full of waterways and lagoons, dry land and islands, sand, salt and fresh water. Big game viewing is standard. The diversity within this eco-system is staggering. Recorded to date: 122 mammals, 71 fish species, 444 bird species, 64 reptiles and 1,300 species of flowering plants.

There are 2 distinct seasons in the Okavango Delta.  The Okavango Delta is popular for experiencing the local mode of transport – the Mokoro. Wind your way through the channels and lagoons in one of these traditional canoes. It is quite a thrilling experience watching nature unfold around you from the seat of your Mokoro. Some areas of the Okavango Delta have water year round. There are areas that are affected by the floods, making the water levels too low for Mokoros before the rains. If you are unsure of when to go let one of our expert consultants guide and advise.

The Okavango Delta is a unique experience had nowhere else in the world. It is a destination worth many visits. It also makes for a great combination with Chobe National Park or the dry salt pans of Makgadikgadi or the Kalahari Desert. It is remarkable to see such different landscapes and wildlife in one country at the Okavango Delta.
