Hi Ilze,

We had a fantastic week in Botswana. The Moremi reserve has an incredible amount of game. I think that we did not drive for more than 50 meters without seeing anything. We managed to see a beautiful leopard in a tree, wild dogs chasing a hyena, lions on a tsebbe kill and a dozing cheetah. And the bird life was simply amazing. Our guide, Noah was exceptionally good at finding things for us. He spotted an Scops Owl in a tree during the day and I have no idea how he saw it. We also did a boat trip. It was nice and relaxing but we did not see too much game from the boat. The food at Okuti Camp was also exceptional, although their wine and coffee could probably be a bit better. Also the pool was a bit green which stopped most guests from dipping in. A pity as it was extremely hot.

Then off to Linyanti Ebony Camp, which was amazing. We are very big fans of African Bush Camps. Both of their camps we have experienced (Kanga and Linyanti) are exceptional. They really have a talent at creating very small, intimate camps that feel luxurious and cosy. But there is also no commercial feel at all to their camps. The staff are also fabulous.

The sheer volume of the herds up in Linyanti is amazing. We saw vast numbers of elephant, buffalo and zebra. We also saw a leopard with a cup as well as lions. Also the bird life offered a few new species to the Moremi. Experiencing the nest of the Carmine Bee Eaters was particularly special. We loved the little extras that ABC organised, the helicopter ride and also the lunch by the river. There was also plenty of action to listen to at night, with a male lion roaring right in front of the camp one morning and hearing Hyenas chase a herd of kudu through the camp on another. The pool was nice and clear and quite chilly, just what we needed in the heat of the afternoon. We also appreciated the French press coffee and the good selections of wine.

Thanks very much for recommending the camps and organising it all. We had a fantastic time.

Regards
Lindsay Sherman
