Classic bush luxury in a private concession of Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park, The Hide is a well established small family-owned camp overlooking a well-frequented waterhole. Known for large herds of elephant and buffalo and its population of wild dogs, Hwange is an excellent place to see leopard and rhino away from the crowds. As its name suggests, the camp boasts a comfortable hide from which guests can observe elephants and other wildlife from just meters away, and also offers a sleep out experience in the rustic Dove’s Nest treehouse. Game drives and walking safaris with informative guides alternate with lazy afternoons by the plunge pool for an authentic African safari.
Just ten luxury tented suites are spread out around the waterhole offering wonderful views of kudu, giraffe and elephant without leaving the comfort of your verandah. There’s plenty of space to stretch out with big beds and classic safari furnishings with a contemporary twist. All the tents have spacious en-suite bathrooms and the two deluxe suites also have a gorgeous outdoor bathroom with a large tub from which guests can look up at the stars as they soak.
Intrepid travellers should book a night sleep out at the secret tree house, enjoying a private bush dinner before tucking up in a comfortable bed on the raised deck as nocturnal animals wander below and the stars shine brightly in the huge African sky.
Having been voted ‘best tented Safari Camp in Zimbabwe thirteen times, it’s no surprise that the game drives and guides are also exceptional. Driving through teak forest and acacia lined vleis with the knowledgeable guides to view large herds of buffalo, a pride of lions or a cheetah and her cubs, guests encounter other surprises along the way and can dictate their own pace and program, including early morning walking safaris and night drives,. Those who prefer a slower pace can view plenty of wildlife from the strategically placed hide and get some fantastic close-up photographs.
With warm hospitality, a personal approach, beautiful unspoilt surroundings and comfortable accommodation, The Hide is an excellent choice for a luxury safari in Zimbabwe.
Safari to Chobe, Victoria Falls & Hwange

They stayed at Chobe Game Lodge on the Chobe River, Kwando's Kwarra Camp in the Delta, Elephant Camp at Victoria Falls before going to The Hide in the Hwange National Park.
Safari to Madikwe Game Reserve, Victoria Falls & Hwange National Park
We put quite a unique safari together for this family. Their first safari ever was to the Madikwe. Which they loved! Then they spent a few days in Cape Town and surrounds, sight seeing and enjoying the wine country before flying up to the Victoria Falls. They then went on safari in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park.
