Fly into Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. On arrival your Volcanoes Safari Guide will be waiting at the airport. Enjoy something cool to drink and some lunch while your guide takes you through a thorough trip briefing. After lunch you depart north for the Parc National des Volcans. Enjoy the beautiful rural views from the passenger seat while gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga Volcanoes.

Arriving at Virunga Safari Lodge you are met with the most amazing panoramic views across to the Virunga Volcanoes and Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. Permits are limited daily and should you wish to encounter the Gorillas twice, then a supplement will need to be paid. Tracking these endangered primates is a thrilling experience! Sometimes they are only an hour from the park gates and sometimes they are a few hours away. Hiking through the thick vegetation, experiencing the sounds of the forest first hand and finally coming across the troop, is something that will be with you for the rest of your life.

Other activities include : Tracking Golden Monkeys and visiting the famous Dian Fossey’s grave. But then its time to travel back to Kigali where you 'll stay at the Kigali Serena Hotel. You could do a city tour and genocide memorial tour without having to rush. This really gives you the opportunity to learn about the country and its turbulent history.
