Walking Safaris
For safari purists and nature lovers there is nothing nicer than doing a Walking Safari and experiencing the sounds, smells and sights of the bush first hand accompanied by an armed ranger. Walks can range from just a few hours to full day walking safaris whereby you actually walk to your next camp in true yesteryear safari style. All walking excursions are led by a qualified ranger (and sometimes his tracker too) who will expertly bring the environment to fascinating life as he points out the trees, insects and smaller mammals.
The best Walking Safaris are in Zambia’s South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi River Valleys. Other destinations that are good for walking are in Namibia. Selected lodges in South Africa’s Kruger region also offer walking – in certain part of the Kruger region, but at most safari lodges, only short bush walks are offered.
Safety is of course paramount and so children are not allowed on walking safaris and walking is limited in predator rich regions.
