Mobile Tented Camps
A Mobile Tented Camp can be semi-permanent or mobile, depending on the season and the movement of the animals (notably during the migration in Kenya and Tanzania). The tents can range from Meru style to Dome style with canvas fly sheets to provide a shade. They have ‘short drop’ toilets (a hole in the ground where ash or sand is used instead of water) and en-suite ‘bucket’ showers with water heated from the camp fire. Lighting is by kerosene/paraffin lamps The Mobile Tented Camps are specially erected depending on the requirements of the guests and dismantled on departure. The luxury is in the remoteness of the pristine wilderness.
What makes this camp unique is that it’s perfectly mobile so that it can easily relocate, depending on the movement of the migrating animals. Each of the 6 ‘pop-up’ tents is built on a totally mobile unit called the ‘Rover’, conceived and designed by the team at Roving Bushtops and built in Switzerland. The portability of the structure does not impede your luxury experience in any way. Read More
