Located in a remote valley of the Serengeti, Serengeti Grumeti Camp sits on the banks of a bywater of the Grumeti River. This tented Serengeti camp is home to vibrantly designed, African flavoured tents. The Grumeti Camp’s position offers exceptional viewing of hippos and crocodiles and of the annual Great Migration.
The Grumeti River plays a devastating part in the annual Serengeti wildebeest migration, as a thousands of zebras and wildebeest risk their lives as they run a gauntlet across the Grumeti River full of ferocious crocodiles. Outside of this spectacle the contented grunts of hippos underlie the birdsong emanating from the ravine trees occasionally set into motion by the acrobatics of the black and white Colobus monkeys.
At night the throated roar of lions and the laughs of hyena sporadically silence the delicate cries of bush babies and the hoots of owls. The area has a good population of big cats including lion, leopard and cheetah and sightings of these members of the Big 5, and cheetahs, are quite regular.
