Overlooking the mesmerising Bwindi forest, where primates like gorillas, monkeys and chimpanzees roam free, Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge has an enviable location in one of the most biologically diverse areas in Africa, and on earth. Here, tracking mountain gorillas in the impenetrable forest provides guests with magical memories, and some of these gentle creatures even visit the camp on a regular basis.
This beautifully appointed eco-lodge with eight stone-and-tile en-suite bandas is truly an oasis. Built and run on ecological principles, Volcanoes Bwindi features solar powered lighting and hot bucket showers to control water consumption and reduce a negative impact on the environment.
Local materials were used in the construction of the lodge, which means the camp has a rustic, earthy, African feel. This is complemented by the friendly and well-trained staff, who are recruited from local communities. Guests at Volcanoes Bwindi are treated to fresh and wholesome dishes which combine local and Western cuisines. There’s a dining room as well as a veranda restaurant providing gorgeous views of the valley. The terrace which juts out into the forest, is the perfect place to soak up the sight and sounds of the surrounds.
