In true safari tradition, Lemala Mara Tented Camp follows the wildlife action to the immense wilderness of the Northern Serengeti between July and October, when this gorgeous camp is set up in the shade of large Euclea trees within touching distance of the Mara River, in the heart of the best game-viewing area of the Northern Serengeti. With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle and a quarter of a million zebra, the Serengeti has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The very high numbers of year-round resident game is boosted to mind-blowing proportions during the annual Serengeti migration, when the entire area turns into a wildlife paradise par excellence.
True to Lemala’s ecosensitive ethos, Lemala Mara Tented Camp is carefully sited just far enough from the river not to interrupt wildebeest migration behaviour as these magnificent animals mass along the steep riverbanks, while still allowing guests to enjoy spectacular African savanna landscapes and unsurpassed game viewing in this remote wilderness.

Each of the 12 spacious, en-suite, mosquito-proof tents combines an authentic bush experience with all the little luxuries that make life on safari so delightfully comfortable. Even in this remote wilderness guests can enjoy in-tent flush toilets, running water and hot showers – after an evening game drive, the personal tent attendants ensure safari showers are filled with hot water to wash away the dust of the African savanna. Both the lounge and dining communal areas (which have internet access) are decorated in colonial safari style with leather sofas, chandeliers, rugs, chests and even a bar. In the evening, gather around the campfire to enjoy predinner drinks and canapés, before enjoying an absolutely delicious, wholesome meal. Delectable bush picnic breakfasts and lunches are available to enjoy during full-day game drives.
