With breathtaking views of the surrounding plains and riverine forest, Mara Plains Camp can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests in six generously sized and comfortable en-suite canvas rooms built on raised decks. (Additional tents are available for pilots, guides and slightly bigger groups, on request.)
With a strong emphasis on being as ecofriendly as possible, Mara Plains camp was designed with nature in mind, and power is provided around the clock via a solar inverter. Mara Plains’ main living areas comprise a dining tent and two comfortable lounge tents – and all of them are raised on wooden decks to optimise the incredible views and vantage points of the lodge. Next to the river, nestling under the cool shade of trees in a grassy outdoor area, birdwatching is the name of the game.
If you feel like a bit of romance, enjoying dinner under the stars is just the ticket, and completely in line with the staff at Mara Plains’ firm belief in keeping things intimate and personal.
For example, there are no set camp schedules or set meal times and guests can dictate their daily programmes to a large extent. Mara Plains is the perfect bush camp, especially since there’s so much to do around here – from nature-based walks and riveting night-time game drives to visiting the local enkangs (villages) and bush picnics.
The game drives extend to both the Masai Mara and Olare Orok. While providing a truly unforgettable wilderness experience, Mara Plains camp has all the necessary facilities, such as laundry services and Wi-Fi internet in certain dedicated parts of the camp.
Staying at Mara Plains is quite a privilege, and allows guests to truly escape the crowds and tourist hordes while being presented with prime opportunities to see all kinds of wildlife, especially predators and big cats.
