Okaukuejo Camp is located at the southern entrance of Etosha and near the western end of the world-famous Etosha Pan – making it a firm favourite with visitors who want to see as much of the park’s wildlife as possible. The waterhole at Okaukuejo is not only a night-time attraction. There’s almost always animals drinking there, guests arrive as early as dawn to quietly watch the animals in the wild. Right through the night, the viewing chairs are usually also filled with wildlife enthusiasts. Accommodation at the camp includes many options, and a total of 104 chalets are available – each with excellent amenities such a fridges. There is a restaurant in the camp serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and other facilities include a post office, a fuel station, a swimming pool, conference facilities and a clinic. The five Premier Waterhole Chalets have prime position and are close to the waterhole, and each of these double-storey units feature two en-suite bedrooms, lounge areas, private patios and balconies overlooking the waterhole.
There are also 30 Waterhole Chalets, which consist of one en-suite double bedroom and a private patio – and these also enjoy a bird’s eye view of the waterhole. There are also 25 Bush Chalets, as well as 40 en-suite double rooms and two disabled-access chalets close to the waterhole.
Wildlife encounters form the backbone of a stay at Okaukuejo. Most visitors opt for self-drive game-viewing excursions, and a network of very well-marked and signposted roads are on offer – but guided drives are also available throughout the day and night.
