The latest addition to Namibia Wildlife Resorts’ portfolio, Onkoshi Camp has the enviable location of being right on the rim of the Etosha Pan, and is hidden on a secluded peninsula.
The low-impact, environmentally friendly Onkoshi was built in 2008 and is set on an expansive wooden deck. The camp has only 15 spacious chalets (one of which is a honeymoon suite) and thanks to its sublime setting, Onkoshi is entirely out of view from tourist routes – resulting in the most tranquil and unique experience possible in Etosha National Park.
Using mainly solar power with generator backup, Onkoshi provides an authentic, non-invasive bush experience, and each chalet features unforgettable natural elements and views. All of Onkoshi’s chalets offer in- and outdoor showers, as well as inviting stone baths with awe-inspiring views of the pan.
Built on elevated wooden decks, each unit consists of a cleverly designed combination of thatched roofs, insulated canvas walls and huge, wooden-framed retractable doors opening up onto breathtaking vistas. Apart from the honeymoon suite, which boasts a king-size bed, each chalet two three-quarter-size beds, as well as an additional sleeper couch.
The restaurant, bar area and infinity pool also has views of the pan and all meals are all exclusive to the camp’s a la carte menu. Activities include guided drives ranging from day safaris to spot-lit night drives, and a huge perk is that some of these drives take guests to exclusive parts of the park which are not open to self-drive visitors.
With its breathtaking views of the Etosha Pan and area’s teeming wildlife, Onkoshi offers the most dramatic location to enjoy Etosha’s poignant African sunsets and sunrises.
