Situated in the private Selenkay Conservancy, just a short drive north of the Amboseli National Park, Amboseli Porini Camp is a luxurious African safari camp offering exclusive accommodation and five-star service. Nine plush, roomy tents are kitted out with all the trimmings – comfortable double or single beds, solar power, and comprehensive modern bathroom facilities, complete with flush toilet and hot water to enhance your African safari.
The bar is stocked with a full range of red and white wines, spirits and mixers, to be enjoyed either on the premises, or as a pleasant accompaniment to a sunset in the surrounding wilderness.
Meals are served al fresco under the stars. While after dark, guests can gather around a roaring campfire to recount the day’s experiences and exchange stories.
Game drives at dawn, dusk and after dark take guests in open-sided 4 x 4 vehicles across the scenic plains of Selenkay Conservancy and the Amboseli National Park. Visitors can enjoy amazing views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. The wildlife in this safari region is diverse, and the varied game drives allow visitors to see a wide array of diurnal and nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat. This includes elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and lions.
Less frequently sighted species are caracal, civet, African wildcat and striped hyena.Porini Camp operates according to eco-friendly and community-based principles, ensuring that it contributes to the preservation of the environment and benefits the local people.
Many of the local people are employed at the camp as trackers, guides and staff. Guided game walks provide the opportunity to get even closer to the diverse flora and fauna of the area. Maasai warriors dressed in brightly coloured garb lead on-foot cultural tours to tribal villages in the area.
