Travel back in time and keep on travelling with Rovos Rail’s extraordinary train journeys around South Africa and beyond. The beautifully restored carriages have been transformed into luxury suites on wheels, departing the Rovos Rail private station in Pretoria for destinations such as Cape Town, Namibia and the Victoria Falls. The family organisation is founded on Rohan Vos’s passion for the railways, which shows in the beautiful finishes on wood panelled coaches, the superb service, exciting itineraries and attention to detail. The grand style of a bygone age is evoked in delicious meals in the classic dining cars when guests dress up formally for dinner.
ROVOS RAIL offers a number of journeys from/to Pretoria including; Cape Town, Durban, Victoria falls and Namibia. The three night Victoria Falls Journey meanders from Victoria Falls, on the Zambian and Zimbabwean border and lumbers through the Hwange National Park for an off-the-train safari. The popular Cape Town Journey goes from Pretoria to Cape Town (or reverse) through beautiful countryside with fascinating stops at historical towns en route.

A choice of air-conditioned suites awaits, starting from the comfortable Pullman suites where your sofa seat magically converts to double or twin beds at night while you’re at dinner.
The en-suite bathroom is perfectly fitted out with a shower and the suite has a safe, a bar fridge and a writing table. Larger Deluxe suites allow the bed to remain in place during the day with a lounge area in front, and the Royal suites enjoy the ultimate luxury of space, taking up half a carriage with a larger lounge and a full bathroom including a Victorian tub and separate shower.
After dressing for dinner, stroll along to the elegantly styled dining car where on-board chefs use fresh local ingredients to create sophisticated dishes served with fine South African wines. Relax in the observation car or in one of the lounges (non-smoking and smoking) between lunch and high tea, as magnificent views roll past your windows at a gentle speed.
The Rovos Rail steam locomotives are used only around their station and for special excursions, but the romance and opulence of the colonial era endures in the elegant style and lavish hospitality of a magical journey with Rovos Rail.
