The eco-friendly Three Tree Hill Lodge with the dramatic backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains and with views of the sweeping and secluded Mfazimnyama Valley in the Spioenkop Game Reserve has been awarded a Green Leaf Environmental Award with good reason. It not only offers spectacular scenery, but also boasts locally grown farm-style country food, superb service, the most relaxing environment and Africa’s warmest welcome.Featuring luxurious accommodation for 16 guests per night, the owners (who are also the managers of the lodge) put their stamp on the property and their passion for Africa fills every corner.
With its six standard luxury twin suites and 2-bedroomed family suite, the accommodation is situated close to the main dining facility, while respecting each unit’s privacy.
The family unit has an en-suite master bedroom, a children’s room with a separate toilet and a small kitchenette.
All the bedrooms offer heated towel rails, 100% cotton percale linen and their own viewing decks, and the overall look is colonial design with some South African touches. In the bathrooms, treats such as a unique range of handmade olive-based African Botanical body care products are on offer.
Activities at this gem of a lodge include battlefield tours, horse trails and expertly guided safari bush walks – which are very popular because guests are taken tracking white rhino on these walks. Other thrills include birding and mountain-biking opportunities, as well as exquisite local cuisine that merge South African home-style cooking with modern flavours.
