Aside from being the perfect destination for a family safari or a honeymoon safari, Victoria Falls also offers plenty to the adrenaline junkie keen on some adventure. Whether you’re frothing for some foam in the white water rapids of the mighty Zambezi, or fancy a helicopter flip above the falls, Victoria Falls and Livingstone have you covered. Let’s take a look at some of the ways you can get your kicks in the area…

1. Bungee Jumping

Arguably one of the most famous bungee jumping sites in the world, the Victoria Falls bridge bungee jump was formerly the world’s highest at 111m. With the falls cascading ahead of you, and the Zambezi flowing below, the adrenaline rush is unrivalled.

For the less adventurous, the bridge also offers a Bridge Swing where you free fall for 70m before swinging out over the rapids in a giant arc. For the younger ones, there is a 300m long ‘Flying Fox’ running across the ravine below which promises it’s fair share of thrills.

Bridge activities open from 09h00 to 16h00.

2. Abseiling

Abseil 53m down the gorge while the mighty Zambezi flows underneath. An exhilarating activity that gives one the feeling of being in an elaborate spy movie. Highly recommended!

3. Jet Boats, White Water Rafting and Canoeing

Water babies do not despair – Victoria Falls has you covered! With the Zambezi river as your playground, there is no shortage of adrenaline filled activities in the area. Take a cable car up to the gorge and climb aboard one of the high powered jet boats that reach speeds of up to 60mph, for a thrilling half an hour ride through the rapids. End that off with a refreshing beer at the bottom of the gorge for an exciting afternoon!

Wildlife fans can embark on an amazing canoe journey with an experienced guide paddling along the Upper Zambezi, amongst the hippos and crocodiles who call the river home. Experience wildlife up close as your guide passes on his local knowledge of all the fascinating fauna and flora while you drift through the placid rapids of Kandahar Island and marvel at the untouched beauty of Africa.

Adrenaline junkies can get their fix by rafting in what has become known as one of the best white water rafting spots in the world. Though the rapids are some of the biggest on the planet, they are also incredibly safe due to water depth, steep canyon walls and an absence of mid-stream rocks. Batoka gorge boasts the highest concentration of grade 4 and 5 rapids in the world and is a real treat to the rafting enthusiast. Combine your rafting adventure with some river boarding for the ultimate in water fun.

4. Helicopter Flights

There are few places in the world where a helicopter flight is more exhilarating than Victoria Falls. Their sheer size and grandeur becomes all too apparent when soaring above them as you take in the fine spray from the cascading water, the green of the surrounding islands and the huge drop of the earth in the valley below. Choose between a 12 or 25 minute flight as you take in the majesty of Africa from above.
