Daily land and water excursions allow guests to immerse themselves in the wonders of the Okavango Delta, a region as famous for its tawny grasslands and verdant riverine forests as the flood plains that fill with crystal clear waters each year. An experience unique to the Delta is a morning spent gliding along flooded channels by mokoro, the traditional dug-out canoes found in the area. Boat cruises are also offered. Embark on a Cape Point tour with a difference. You’ll forage for your lunch! Explore the gardens, discover and pick edible floral foods and fresh organic vegetables. Forage for indigenous edible plants and winter weeds, learn how to sustainably harvest them, utilise them in your kitchen, grow them in your garden and explore some of their medicinal properties. Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Tswalu in the Kalahari. On arrival, enjoy lunch and settle in. The lodge staff will tell you more about the excursions on offer, and you may want to join an excursion this afternoon if you so wish. Much of Tswalu’s beauty can be found in the smaller details, which is best appreciated by getting off the vehicle. Then you will get up close to the ripples left by the wind on the crest of a sand dune, notice a yellow flower opening to face the sun, or be able to trace the tracks left in the sand by a porcupine digging for roots.

The Meerkat Experience is very special. Join a group of habituated meerkats as they emerge from their burrows and warm themselves in the rising sun or meet up with them as they return home at the end of the day and groom and play at dusk.
