Discovering Africa is a very personal and reflective experience. Whilst for many travellers bounteous Botswana has long been the decisive African safari destination of choice, for families traveling with children, the experience has now further been enriched (and streamlined), with the launch of Desert & Delta’s ‘Ultimate Family Safari Packages’ offering incredible family safaris in Botswana.

Unique to each traveller, enriching each visitor, striking a primordial chord with every individual … uncovering Africa makes a huge impact and leaves a lasting impression on all, both adult and child, who are fortunate enough to unearth her gifts.

Going on safari is both fun and educational for children

New Family Rooms at Chobe Game Lodge, Savute Safari Lodge, Camp Moremi and Camp Okavango allow you to experience family safaris in Botswana on a choice of four nights, six nights, or eight nights safari packages … at any combination of, OR at all four, of the mentioned magical safari destinations.

At Camp Moremi, Camp Okavango, and Savute Lodge, the new Family Rooms all feature two sizeable luxurious bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms.

At Chobe Game Lodge, Family Rooms comprise either two bedrooms and shared bathroom, or inter-leading Standard Rooms, and/or Family Suites, depending on each family’s needs.

All Family Rooms enjoy spacious viewing decks and boast upmarket amenities as expected of lodges and camps of this quality.

In terms of entertainment, a great deal of thought and consideration has been applied, and families are very well catered for and extremely well taken care of.

Each child between the age of six and fifteen, is gifted a safari bag inclusive of pertinent activity books, check-lists, and various surprises to keep him or her busy during certain times of the day, and in addition, other special outings are planned around and adapted to each family’s specific requirements.

To this end, each of the four camps has it’s very own dedicated ‘Safari Hero’, which is a staff member, whose attention and function is devoted and committed to the planning of flexible safari activities and experiences for each family. This planning ensures that children are kept busy with a variety of activities which interests them, whilst at the same time giving them an opportunity to connect with Desert & Delta’s awesome and indomitably warm local staff.

Activities at each of the camps have been tailored to ensure the safari experience is fun and educational for every family member, and may include African-type basket weaving, wild animal spoor-tracking, and local bird identification, to mention a few.

Excursions out of camp extend to mokoro races (dependent on water-levels), fishing trips, and inter-active eco educational talks.

As most parents know, flexibility can be the key to successful family expeditions, and with this in mind, Desert & Delta highly recommend booking private activities (including a guide and vehicle), which allows families to vary the timings and duration of outings (and meals), per their own particular schedule.

This private option is available at a surcharge, and for families traveling with children under the ages of twelve, is mandatory.

To facilitate travel matters even further, the new ‘Ultimate Family Safari Packages’ are all inclusive as per Desert & Delta’s standard rates, and include all scheduled charters between camps, operating to/from Maun and/or Kasane in both directions.

Botswana is very quickly becoming a destination of choice for families wanting their children to experience the enchantment of an African safari.

With Desert & Delta’s new ‘Ultimate Family Safari Packages’, days are spent experiencing and witnessing Botswana at its absolute best, which is in itself is quite possibly one of the greatest gifts anyone can bestow upon any child (and/or grandchild).
