The Kruger National Park, Kruger Park Concessions and the Greater Kruger (the game reserves that border the National Park) are loved and renowned all around the world for being the best safari destination in South Africa!
Here’s why…
SUPERABUNDANT WILDLIFE
Of course, the first reason rests in the vast Kruger region’s unrivaled variety of animals who call it home, from the wildly quintessential “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhino, and elephant) to the equally intriguing “Little Five”(the elephant shrew, ant lion, rhinoceros beetle, buffalo weaver and leopard tortoise), huge herds of plains game and breathtaking birdlife.

YEAR-ROUND BEAUTY
Come rain or shine, the Kruger is spectacular – with each season bestowing its own unique beauty across the skies and land.
The dry winter season (from June to August) is the ultimate season for the most thrilling game-viewing. The sparser vegetation and thinned-out, lower grasses open up the landscape, making the animals so much easier to spot in the bush. Compared to the summer months where thirst-quenching puddles dot the landscape as far as the eye can see, winter’s increased dryness draws the animals, usually at dawn and dusk, in throngs to waterholes and rivers, making for very exciting viewing.
THE DRY SEASON
From December to February, the summer season‘s spectacular lightning and thunder-showers transform the dry, brown landscape into a lush, vibrant emerald paradise, in time to provide safe cover for all the baby animals born in the spring, but also making for more predator interaction.
THE GREEN SEASON
AN ABUNDANT CHOICE OF PLACES TO STAY
Whether you’d like to stay within the National Park itself, or at one of the adjoining private game reserves, each has its own benefits. Accommodation types range from tented camps and traditional safari lodges to luxury exclusive-use villas.
ECO-SENSITIVE LODGES
The private game reserves that border the National Park include Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Timbavati Game Reserve and Klaserie Game Reserves. These, as well as the private Kruger concessions inside the park, offer the luxury of exclusivity, where only the lodge guests are allowed on game drives through the lodge’s concession, and the game drive vehicles are permitted to drive off-road, getting guests that much closer to animal sightings. The number of vehicles at animal sightings are also limited, preventing a sense of overcrowding.
Because there are no fences between the private reserves and the National Park, the animals can move naturally and freely between the different areas, making for an outstanding and abundantly diverse safari experience like
