The newly-built Kilwa Beach Lodge is a perfect tropical beach destination for travelers going on an African Safari in Southern Tanzania. Formerly a 10-acre coconut plantation, the new lodge has only seven rooms, including Africa’s first superadobe eco-room, which utilizes NASA technology in its building construction.
All of the rooms are just a few meters from the warm waters of the Indian Ocean that attracts visitors from all over the world to East Africa. The local town is Kilwa Masoko, which is known as the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani and also the Selous Game Reserve.
Staying at Kilwa Beach Lodge makes a perfect combination with a Selous safari – in fact, it is the closest beach resort to the reserve! Paired with a variety of water and marine activities such as hippo trips, snorkeling, diving and fishing, guests have a unique opportunity to have an incredible “bush and beach” experience.
